Two crucial elements of this decarbonisation strategy include the electrification of heating and transportation. This bold move to adopt heat pumps and electric vehicles would undoubtedly increase electricity demand on our distribution networks.<\/p><div><span lang=\"EN-US\">VisNet<\/span>\u00ae and <a href=\"https:\/\/eatechnology.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EA Technology<\/a> have recently completed a project for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/department-for-business-energy-and-industrial-strategy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS)<\/a> to investigate lower cost innovative options for increasing capacity of the LV distribution network. The focus of this work being to find and evaluate alternatives to asset replacement that is able to meet the anticipated increase in electricity demand out to 2050.\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><p><picture><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/eatechnology.com\/media\/0qmhpzyy\/net-zero.jpg?anchor=center&amp;mode=crop&amp;width=1200\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/picture><\/p><h3 aria-level=\"4\">Our approach<\/h3><p>As technology continues to evolve and demand for power increases, it is essential that network operators are able to keep up with the demand on their networks. We are committed to working with DNOs to help them better understand the capacity of their networks both now and in the future. One tool we are utilising is the Transform Model\u00ae which provides a techno-economic analysis of various options available to network operators to ensure the grid is capable of accommodating the demands of the future in a cost-effective way.
