Liverpool City Centre doubles its LV monitoring support ahead of Eurovision 2023

Ahead of Eurovision 2023, SP Energy Network added a further 50 VisNet Hubs to Liverpool City Centre, to increase their LV Monitoring. This was due to the added electrical demand due to the population of the city increasing by 20%. The VisNet Hubs were installed to detect pre-fault activity, to ensure that everything ran smoothly throughout the busy period.

Supporting the EV rollout with smarter grid modelling and monitoring

With approximately 34 million cars on UK roads, the UK’s electricity grid is set to face major capacity challenges as thousands of electric vehicles hit the road.
As electricity demand surges and low-carbon technologies become more widespread, network operators face mounting pressure to maintain a resilient grid. With increased demand,  ageing infrastructure, and increasing grid connection requestion, maintaining a proactive, and efficient approach is essential for a sustainable future.
