VisNet from EA Technology has unveiled its latest innovation, VisNet View. This device is a compact, pole-mounted monitoring solution purpose-built for overhead low-voltage (LV) networks.
With around 250,000 pole-mounted substations in the UK supplying homes and businesses, real-time visibility at the network edge has never been more critical. The VisNet View fills this gap by delivering detailed, feeder-level grid-edge intelligence that empowers owners and operators of electrical networks to understand what’s happening across their overhead networks like never before.
Unlike traditional LV monitoring approaches that only capture aggregated transformer data, the VisNet View captures high-resolution feeder information, including phase and neutral currents and phase to neutral voltage, power metrics, harmonic distortion and pole angle changes. This data feeds a range of analytics applications within VisNet, such are reliability, capacity or safety. For example, the Reliability App Suite identifies events such as pre-faults and fuse blows alongside other reliability indicators, all visualised through VisNet’s Detect Pro interface. This rich data allows operators to prioritise maintenance, identify faults and pre-faults, and better manage capacity challenges, allowing them to particularly target rural areas with vulnerable customers or evolving load conditions.
As LV networks adapt to bi-directional power flows from renewable generation and electrification demands, enhanced visibility is essential for reliability and future planning. To explore the full details of this exciting development, read the full article on The Energyst website.
