Visnet Hub reaches milestone of 10,000 units installed in the field

We’re proud to announce that we have reached a significant milestone in our company history, with the recent installation of our 10,000th VisNet Hub.

Since the first VisNet Hub was installed in June 2019, we have been lucky enough to experience exponential growth and there have now been more than 22,000 VisNet monitoring and restoration units dispatched, including the VisNet Hub, Guard and ALVIN Reclose 2 devices, protecting over 3.5 million homes and businesses in the UK.

Speaking about the milestone achievement, Dave A Roberts, Managing Director of VisNet said: “Everyone at VisNet is incredibly proud to have reached this milestone of 10,000 VisNet Hub units dispatched; bringing our total number of devices in the field to well over 22,000 units. The pre-fault detection aspect of the VisNet Hub is utterly crucial to network operators to reduce the amount of downtime on everything from outages to routine maintenance, and real-time data enables those operators to make rapid decisions that would otherwise not be possible.

“Of course, we are not finished at 10,000. VisNet will continue to develop and innovate in the LV power solutions sector to deliver more cutting-edge solutions that improve the overall network resilience and enhances the customer experience.”

The importance of increased monitoring has never been clearer for DNOs, with the increased pressure being placed on the power grid as the UK migrates to low carbon technologies such as Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers and heat pumps. According to data from the Government, there are 840,000 EV’s on the roads, a number that is increasing at a rapid rate year-on-year. While this switch to low carbon technology is crucial for the UK’s journey to net zero, the pressure placed on the network cannot be overstated or ignored, making monitoring equipment essential.

The VisNet Hub is an innovative, low-cost LV monitoring device which provides unrivalled real-time network visibility to support a proactive approach to network and fault management. VisNet’s Low Voltage Common Application Platform (LV-CAP) operating system allows the Hub to transform data into actionable insights through the ever-expanding suite of on device applications and viewed via the VisNet intuitive user interface Detect. These insights can assist network operators in dealing with immediate operational issues such as identifying faults and their location, while also providing key asset health information for proactive replacement and refurbishment strategies.
